Is director John Waters too controversial for the small town?

This story hits close to home! Famed movie director John Waters is set to invade Middletown, DE as one of the headliners for this years Unicity Festival on August 2nd. However, according to reports in the local News Journal his upcoming appearance is being met with some controversy and protest from local town officials and residents. One town councilwoman has spoken out at a recent meeting claiming she is "disgusted with it" and feels Waters should take his "This Filthy World" act elsewhere.
Water's in the meantime is loving all the hoopla! He is quoted by the News Journal as saying "I find it delightful" and goes on to say "I love the fact that anyone thinks my words will be carried on the wind and contaminate somebody's cookout."
The festival is set to take place outdoors among several venues in the Middletown area and now organizers are on a search to find Waters an indoor venue to perform, so as not to cause any offense!

This is sure to stir up some hype in our little home state of DE!

The Unicity Festival is a day long celebration of the arts with over 100 acts ranging from musicians and dancers to comedians and poets set to perform throughout the town.
Other headlining performers include comedian Sandra Bernhard and 80's rock band, The Fixx closing out the festival. The festival is being organized by the Premiere Centre for the Arts and their executive director Fred Munzert is truly excited about the event with it being the first of its' kind held in the state of Delaware.
