David Beckham to help close Beijing Olympics
Footballer will be joined by singer Leona Lewis
David Beckham is making a special appearance at the closing ceremony of the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
The footballer, 33, will be driven into China's national stadium, the Bird's Nest, onboard a red double decker bus.
He will then kick footballs with children representing every country in the world.
‘David is going to be in the surprise finale,’ a source tells People.
‘They always have a segment to do the handover, to showcase the next city to host the Olympics.
'He was very involved in the London bid to get it, and as a Londoner he is incredibly proud that the Olympics will be in London.
'He is passionate about it and looking forward to the games in 2012.'
Leona Lewis, 23, winner of The X Factor in 2006, is said to be singing a duet with Led Zeppelin's Jimmy Page at the event on 24 August.
